What is the one “truth” everyone parrots in your industry that you’ve discovered really isn’t true?
There were several replies… and my answer was – “Making money online is passive income.”
This really got me to thinking… Is online marketing really passive income? Seriously… Is it?
A couple of years ago, I got into online marketing for 2 reasons. I was only doing shows at night and had too much free time in the day and my girlfriend didn’t allow me to have other girlfriends. The other reason was that I was getting old. I had to admit that I didn’t move as fast as I used to and I didn’t see myself spinning fire at 50.
However, in the years performing, I made enough money from all my shows to buy 2 houses in Malaysia. I did this about 8 years ago when everyone told me not to. They said that crime rates in Malaysia were high and everyone laughed at me for making such poor decisions.
I still went ahead and paid for those houses in full… and today, the rental from those properties is what allows me to live worry free. Now, tons of people from my country want to buy houses in Malaysia because the Singapore government keeps royally screwing them over and life here is too stressful.
It has reached a point where the Malaysian government has instituted a minimum price of a million dollars for a foreigner to buy a house there. Nobody is laughing at me now.
So, why am I telling you this?
Simple. The rental properties is what I call passive income. Real estate and the entertainment scene has made me more money than this online BS which takes up all your time.
When I was 26, I did try my hand at online marketing. I even made money back then but left for a career that had fun and women. After 14 years, I come back and still see several of the same people online… and they’re still doing the same stuff that they were doing back then.
No progression. No change. The same ol’ launching products. The same ol’ kissing affiliates’ asses to get promotions. The same ol’ everything. They’re just better known in the industry.
They pretend to be ballers and continuously talk about hustling and making money. Yet, every now and then, there are signs that the bright picture they’re portraying has a very dark negative.
Just recently, a ‘six figure marketer’ was moaning to Darren Ross, cos he didn’t make as many affiliate sales. You’d think that with all the money he’s making, a few $8 commissions shouldn’t bother him… and yet it does. Why?
I’ve seen supposedly successful marketers turn to GoFundMe the moment a crisis hits. Or they need to sell off their business… or resort to some other drastic measure. Where then is the passive income? Where’s your insurance? Why is your six figure income not tiding you over during these exigencies?
As a PLR seller… How many products are you going to keep releasing? When does it ever end?
The truth is that you’re only as good as your last launch. While it’s true that movie studios keep making movies and artists keep releasing songs, let’s not fool ourselves. Those guys make millions. Most online marketers don’t.
What I see are a ton of people teaching people to teach people to teach people to make money… while they are clueless themselves.
